Waar gaat Destiny of the Shrine Maiden over?

Himeko Kurusugawa is een verlegen 16-jarig meisje. Ze is jaloers op Chikane Himemiya, haar zelfverzekerde en arrogante klasgenoot. Op hun school ontmoeten de twee jonge meisjes Soma, een schone jongen die verliefd is op Himeko. Helaas voor hem is Chikane ook verliefd op haar... De levens van het trio veranderen wanneer de Orochi, demonen, op aarde arriveren om de priesteressen van de maan aan te vallen, die Himeko en Chikane blijken te zijn. Soma zal besluiten zijn twee kameraden te helpen, ook al ontdekt hij dat Orochi-bloed door zijn aderen stroomt.

After Himeko strikes Chikane's chest with her sword, they share a tender moment which ultimately reveals the unpleasant past the two Priestesses have shared in their past lives and how Chikane only pretended to want to kill her as to pay the cost this time around. The Orochi are finally defeated and everything goes back to normal, but at a price the two Priestesses were not ready to accept. At the end of the credits, a special ending is revealed which shows Himeko and Chikane being reunited.
